Brake Conditioning
Following from yesterday’s work, I conditioned the brake to make it work better.
I taxiied the airplane at 15-20 kts, then dragged the brake until it slowed down. I did this a few times to make the brake pad fit better with the main gear.
After that, I parked in the run-up area and cranked the engine to 4200 RPM, the airplane did not move. So the conditioning worked.
High Fuel Pressure
I double checked all lines, and taxiied around the airport while breaking in the brakes. Throughout the taxi the pressure was stable. It did not shoot up to 55 PSI like last time. So maybe I did have a kink or something in the return lines and the checks I did in the last few days fixed it.
While taxiing aronud, I went to VPX control page on the G3X and turned off the boost pump module. The pressure dropped to 46.x during taxi. And when I bumped the RPM to 4100 RPM in the run-up, the pressure went down to 45.9 PSI which is actually within green range.
So I think Midwest Panel Builders are right. This airplane will see slightly high fuel pressure, but it will correct itself once the engine is up at a high RPM.
I will stop worry about this and just wait for the flight stage to monitor.
Magnetometer Calibration
Now that the airplane has legs, I proceeded to calibrate the magnetometer.
I taxiied to an empty area and made sure I was as far away from any metal or airplanes as possible, then pointed the nose to due north and shutd down the engine.
Then I rebooted the G3X to configuration mode and hit the mag calibration button to start the process.
It lets me hold still facing due north for 30 seconds or so, then slowly turn right a few degress, then hold still and repeat. I did this a few times until the airplane made about a circle and a half. The mag calibration was done successfully, and I was able to see heading and finally.
