Disassemble Wing Storage Cradle
After the wing is mounted, I needed some storage back in the hangar, so I took down the wing storage cradle. This is the cradle storing the wings vertically, not the cradle used to mount the wing. I still need the wing mounting cradle to help my friend Kevin when he mounts his wings in a few weeks.
I picked the wrong day for this job though. The weather is about 100 degrees. I went to Harbor Freight for a shop fan, but even with the fan it didn’t cool down much.
Anyways, the cradle is finally gone and I rearranged the tables, boxes etc to get more space in the front of the airplane. I will be able to walk around and push the airplane in and out without hitting anything.
Seat rails and test fitting the seat
The seat rail on both sides of the fuselage was built close to 2 years ago but was never installed, because they would interfere with torquing the top bolts for the wing.
Now I can finally install them and stop worrying about accidentally losing parts.
And with the seat rail, I put on the front seat to do a test fit.
Unfortunately, the seat does not slide freely. After a close look, the seat latch on the right hand side does not retract fully when I pull the seat adjustment tab. I will need to take it off and may be grind down the locking latch by a few millimeters to clear the distance.
Leather Side Panels
I put the leather side panels back after the seat rail install. This is probably the 7th time I remove/install this particular panel. There are like 20 screws on each side. I hope I will stop doing it for a while :-)
